Just learned that apparently a Senator from Nigeria has married a 14 year old Egyptian and was arrested as a result. Michael Jon, writer for allafrica.com states in his article that "He has no respect for the law and he does not hide the fact. He is fond of getting married and he prefers them young - like thirteen or fifteen - beautiful and poor."
This post from Naijablog also alerted me to the potential physical dangers accompanying pregnancy for these child-brides. Frankly the whole practice disgusts me to no end.
